A rare acoustic set from one of Glasgow’s most original bands of the past decade. The guys (and gals) have played to a sold out Barrowland, supported Steve Mason of The Beta Band and dropped one of the most critically acclaimed vinyl’s of recent years with the stunning `Who Took Utopia?` L.P which won over the ears of people such as Paolo Nutini, Alabama 3 and Rhys Ifans .
With three albums already under their belt , they are getting ready to record their fourth and all set for a busy festival season followed by a European tour but have decided to pay back their loyal fans with a free entry Equinox party at Pie & Brew before the madness descends.
The crowd will be treated to a collection of both classics and fresh material with a mixture of band members old and new plus a special guest or two.
This extended set may, or may not, include some side project numbers namely Jackal Trades, The Twistettes, Gordy Duncan JR and Mark Mywords but the show will mostly be aiming to re-imagine some of The Girobabies most loved songs with a sneaky peak at some of the unreleased songs on the horizon.
There are also plans in place to attempt to screen the premier of a short film that they have been working on and a general Q & A with the band.
Like all Girobabies shows, you can also expect a very special after party in an undisclosed location ‘till the wee hours if you want to continue the party once the gig itself has finished.
Cat Caldwell is a singer-songwriter from Paisley supporting artists such as Frightened Rabbit, Kyle Falconer, BMX bandits.
Pie & Brew are pleased to welcome back rising Star Carly Connor after a successful New Year's Eve performance! 24 year old Carly’s exquisite song writing comes straight from the heart and her deliverance on stage is spellbinding -the amount of gigs already done across the UK & Europe is impressive (supporting the Alabama Shakes, The View, Chaka Khan, Paolo Nutini and playing at T in the Park at just 19 years old).
Carly’s unique voice and style leaves one with quite an impression. Taking influence from Janis Joplin and early (Ike &) Tina Turner – Carly has a a natural gift for song writing and she has truly mastered her craft. Yet another amazing talent to be shaped by Glasgow life – which is also reflected in her music.
